Gordon Steel - P/T Drama Lecturer
Gordon is a well known writer at Hull Truck Theatre with previous work that includes: Kissing Married Women, Albert Knobbs, A Pair of Beauties, Studs, Dead Fish (winner of prestigious Edinburgh Fringe First) and Like a Virgin (commissioned by LWT as a TV film and recently published by Oberon Classic Books). Other recent commissions include: Jumping the Waves for the grand opening of the Arc Theatre in Stockton on Tees and Tommo's Letter; a play based on alcoholism for Durham Health Education Authority. Additionally, Gordon has written a sitcom Cock and Bull for the Channel Four Sitcom Festival one that is currently being developed for Network TV.
Gordon has written for LWT, BBC and Carlton Television. Gordon has directed many shows including:Hair, Jesus Christ Superstar, Cabaret, Chicago, Blood, Sweat and Tears, Sweet Charity, September in the Rain, The Rink, Mother Courage and Her Children, Billy Liar, The Bald Prima Donna, The Crucible, Twelfth Night and A Midsummer Night's Dream. Gordon has participated in the Carlton Screenwriting Course and BBC Drama’s New Writing Initiative. He has been teaching performing arts at Stockton Riverside College for 18 years.
