
Sara Durkin is a graduate of London Studio Centre where she successfully completed a 3 year musical theatre diploma. Sara has worked professionally in the performing arts industry since the age of 18 and her professional credits include; Cabaret performer (singer/dancer) – Olau’ Britannia mini cruises, Starlight Express (West End) – cover Pearl and Dinah, Starlight Express (Germany) – Dinah. Various corporate films and voice over work. UK tour of Charles Dickens ‘David Copperfield’ – played Emily.
Sara returned to her Teesside roots many years ago and has enjoyed a successful career in teaching. She has worked with primary school children and was workshop leader and choreographer for Middlesbrough Football Club before beginning her career at Stockton Riverside College where she is currently Head of School for Visual and Performing Arts. Sara has choreographed numerous musicals and projects during her time at College and also has experience in private singing tuition at ‘The Studio’ Hartlepool. Sara continues to enjoy a successful career as a singer. She works with a number of regional musicians on a variety of musical styles. She is currently lead female vocalist with North East Big Band; Musicians Unlimited’ and has also performed with ‘The Wildcats of Kilkenny’ and ‘The Customs House Big band’.
Sara currently provides backing vocals for Tony Christie and has recently returned from his UK tour where she performed at venues such as ‘The Royal Albert Hall’, ‘Waterfront’ – Dublin and for TV, ‘Top of the Pops’, Ulster TV, BBC Breakfast and GMTV.
